I am excited to Chair a new Task Force developed by Division 42 President Elect, Laura Barbanel, which will bring independent practitioners opportunities to enhance their practices.

President Ron Levant’s Task Force on Health Care for the Whole Person has successfully laid the groundwork for connecting psychologists with medical specialists and for raising the public’s awareness of the links between mental health and physical health.

Dr. Barbanel seeks to expand on these efforts and focus on how independent practitioners can put these accomplishments into practice--their practices that is! She’s established a 42 Task Force on Health Care for the Whole Person, and preliminary projects include tips for practitioners on creating collaborative professional partnerships with physicians and other professionals; education modules and toolkits for practitioners for referrals, consultations, and integrated treatment plans with physicians; and public education efforts to highlight the mind-body connection and APA materials.

With such a focus on helping independent practitioners enhance their practices, the Health Care for the Whole Person Task Force might become known among psychologists as Help Care for the Whole Practice! As Chair of this Task Force, I?m hopeful you’ll join us in what’s ahead for your practice.
