Karen Shore receives APA Citation

Karen has personally, passionately and articulately taken the entire managed care philosophy of the country to task, showing where it is flawed, advocating for patient rights to freely choose their mental health practitioner, fighting against the tyranny of the corporate incursions into the domain of mental health care, and helping people to return to personal responsibility between therapist and client.

She has gained national recognition on national television and in print, in the Wall Street Journal and New York Times for her fight against the invasions of privacy and denials of service to patients. She has formed and has chaired a national organization to structure this fight.

Karen is primarily a practicing clinical psychologist who adds all this advocacy to her regular work schedule. When many of us would have conceded the field to the corporate intruders into the treatment relationship, she has led us back to the battle and suggested strategies for the preservation of sensible patient treatment.
